Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant Dr Melissa Delgado started her career as a General Practitioner with Diploma in Child Health from the University of Sydney. It was while working as a GP that she realised her passion for women’s health and decided to specialise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
During her last two years of training, Dr Delgado worked under the guidance of the Australian Gynaecological & Surgery Society (AGES) and Sydney West Advanced Pelvic Surgery Unit (SWAPS) teams and completed her Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound at Nepean Hospital.
Dr Delgado is the current president of the Western Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society, and is undertaking a Masters in Maternal Fetal-Medicine under the Barcelona University.
As a staff specialist at Blacktown Hospital, Dr Delgado is in charge of conducting Obstetrics and Gynaecology clinics and surgical procedures, and is a registered Colposcopist with the ASCCP (Australian Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology). She is actively involved in teaching and is the current Training Supervisor for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Dr Delgado has a passion for educating her junior staff and the midwifery team, recognising that through this she has the ability to make a difference in this world. She has authored a number of publications in her field and is currently a lecturer for Western Sydney University.
Outside her work, Dr Delgado is a wife and a mother of two beautiful children. She is devoted to spending time with her son and daughter, getting involved with their daily activities and just being a mum. She is dedicated to her family and loves nothing more than the hours they enjoy together.
