-
Fertility assessment
If you have concerns about your fertility or are experiencing difficulty conceiving, a fertility assessment is an important first step to ensure appropriate management and to provide insights for further investigation.
-
Preconception counselling
Counselling prior to pregnancy can help you make an informed decision regarding your pregnancy planning and identify and manage any risk factors, improving short and long term health outcomes.
If you are planning a pregnancy you should first have a full medical checkup and ensure you are up to date with vaccinations against chickenpox, German measles and whooping cough, as these illnesses can be dangerous to your baby’s health.
-
Antenatal care
Regular checkups throughout your pregnancy keep you and your baby healthy until childbirth. As well as enabling Dr Delgado to identify and manage any potential risks, these checkups provide the opportunity for you to ask questions in relation to any concerns you may have.
Advice and support in relation to dietary and lifestyle changes is also provided during these sessions, such as monitoring your weight gain to ensure you are maintaining a healthy weight during your pregnancy, as too much or too little weight both carry risks.
-
Caesarean section
Sometimes complications during pregnancy require a baby to be delivered via surgical incision in the abdomen and uterus, and this is known as a Caesarean section or C-section. The necessity of performing a C-section often only becomes clear once labour has commenced. Issues with labour progression, such as prolonged first or second stage, and foetal distress are among the most common reasons.
-
Postpartum care
The first six weeks after giving birth is a period in which your bodily systems gradually return to their state of pre-pregnancy and you undergo physical and psychological recuperation while also developing parenting skills.

VBAC – Vaginal Birth After Caesarean
VBAC, or Vaginal Birth After Caesarean, is the process where a woman gives birth vaginally after having previously delivered a baby through a cesarean section. VBAC can involve certain risks, such as the possibility of uterine rupture, making it essential for women to consult with their healthcare providers to determine the best and safest birthing option based on their individual medical history and circumstances.

Multiple pregnancies
Obstetric care for multiple pregnancies involves specialised medical attention to ensure the health and wellbeing of both the mother and her babies, addressing the unique challenges and risks associated with carrying more than one foetus. These pregnancies require heightened monitoring and intervention due to the increased risk of complications. Regular ultrasounds, detailed fetal assessments, and tailored maternal care plans are crucial in managing the intricate dynamics of multiple gestations.
